By The Numbers: UFC Kansas City Pre-Fight Edition


The Ultimate Fighting Championship will touch down in Kansas City, Missouri, for the first time in more than two years, as Ian Garry sets his sights on Carlos Prates in the UFC on ESPN 66 headliner this Saturday at the T-Mobile Center. Meanwhile, retiring ex-Cage Fury Fighting Championships titleholder Anthony Smith authors the final chapter in his long and successful career when he tackles Mingyang Zhang in the three-round light heavyweight co-main event at 205 pounds.

Ahead of UFC on ESPN 66 “Garry vs. Prates,” a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the docket bring to the table:

6: Consecutive calendar years in which Garry has fought at least once. He went 3-0 in 2019, 2-0 in 2020, 3-0 in 2021, 2-0 in 2022, 3-0 in 2023 and 2-1 in 2024.

7: Knockdowns landed by Prates in just four appearances inside the Octagon. He was credited with two against Neil Magny at UFC Fight Night 247, three against Jingliang Li at UFC 305, one against Charlie Radtke at UFC on ESPN 57 and one against Trevin Giles at UFC Fight Night 236.

20: Smith victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 53% of his career total (38). His list of UFC victims: Jimmy Crute, Mauricio Rua, Rashad Evans, Hector Lombard, Andrew Sanchez and Elvis Mutapcic.

2: Sub-minute stoppages on the Zhang resume. He buried Hongyan Tian with punches in 50 seconds at a Huya Fighting Championship show on Sept. 5, 2020, then disposed of Handong Kong with knees and punches in 45 seconds under the Wu Lin Feng flag on Jan. 14, 2021.

200,000: Dollars in post-fight bonuses banked by Giga Chikadze across his 10 appearances in the UFC. He has been awarded “Performance of the Night” three times and “Fight of the Night” once. Chikadze squares off with David Onama in a three-round featherweight showcase.

12: Seconds needed for Onama to put away Raymond Bighead with a guillotine choke under the Kansas City Fighting Alliance banner on May 4, 2019. Nearly five years later, it remains the Factory X export’s fastest finish to date.

102: Rounds started by Michel Pereira as a professional mixed martial artist. He has gone the distance on 19 different occasions and carries an 11-8 record in those bouts. Pereira toes the line against Abusupiyan Magomedov in a three-round middleweight feature.

10: Countries in which Magomedov has plied his mixed martial arts trade. He has suited up in the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Brazil, France, Poland, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Sweden and Denmark.

40: Years of age for Nicolas Dalby. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born on Nov. 16, 1984 in Sonderborg, Denmark. Dalby faces former Ring of Combat champion Randy Brown in a three-round welterweight attraction.

115: Significant strikes landed by Brown in his three-round unanimous decision over Jared Gooden at UFC Fight Night 194 on Oct. 9, 2021. It established a personal high-water mark for the Budokan Martial Arts Academy product that still stands.

8,027: Miles between where Ikram Aliskerov trains with the KHK MMA Team in Manama, Bahrain, and Ultimate Fighting Championship headquarters in Las Vegas. He confronts Andre Muniz in a three-round middleweight appetizer.

15: Muniz victories by submission, accounting for 63% of his career total (24). His methods of choice: four armbars, three triangle chokes, two brabo chokes, two guillotine chokes, two arm-triangle chokes and two rear-naked chokes.

24: Years of age for Cameron Saaiman. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born on Dec. 20, 2000 Pretoria, South Africa. Saaiman meets the undefeated Malcolm Wellmaker in a three-round bantamweight prelim.

.747: Cumulative winning percentage between the 28 fighters slated to compete at the event. They sport a combined record of 460-153-8. Smith has the most wins (38) and losses (21) of anyone on the card.
